Help Synaesthetic get to Spain
Synaesthetic Theatre has been invited to bring one of our original shows, The Trial of K, to the Castilla y Leon International Arts Festival in Salamanca, Spain. This will be Synaesthetic’s international debut, and we are very excited – and working our butts off to get the show ready! The International Arts Festival has made a financial commitment to bring The Trial of K to Salamanca this June 2007, including travel and shipping expenses for 15 people, set and costumes. However, the show is two years old and never toured outside of NYC, so we need to physically recreate it, including the Expressionist jigsaw puzzle of a set. Since the show uses live video feeds, also need to upgrade our video equipment to wireless capability and insure it to make touring a reality.
This is a huge step for my company, a chance for us to reach a much wider audience and Spain is just the first stop!! We’re not raising money and spending time and resources revisiting this show for a one-night stand (though as K I do have a penchant for impulsive encounters). After our visit to Salamanca in June, we will be ready to bring The Trial of K to other festivals, countries and U.S. cities. Once the set and larger props have been redesigned and built to last, Synaesthetic can take K anywhere -- for a one-time performance, a short run or a performance package including physical theatre workshops.
